Agatha Christie

Whenever it wasn't Holmes, it was always Poirot who kept me company.

Chandamama

There used to be this monthly children's magazine called Chandamama in English (Ambulimama in Tamil) which I used to love reading.

There used to quite a lot of series stories in these - some mythological, some historical and some folklore. I don't remember seeing a lot of pictures, and used to be overwhelmed by the sheer text content while in kindergarten.

But these magazines too were part of my childhood and I cherish those memories of going to bookshops with mom to buy these very month.

Tinkle Digest

Remember this comic strip?

I do, too.

I remember having devoured these with my eyes! I literally grew up with Ramu Shamu, Suppandi, Kalia, Chamataka & Doob Doob, Kapish, Mooshik, Shikhari Shambu, It happened to me, Tantri, Hodja, Anwar, and all other local folklore in these colorful pages.

And I still can't help revisiting them from time to time.
